How Often Should I Visit the Salon?

"When do I need to come back in for my next salon visit?" This is a question I get daily as a colorist.

You just left the salon feeling fabulous and renewed! But, how often should you return to the salon? Here are a few questions to help you find the best timing for you.

Do you have gray?

Gray hair is more noticeable on darker hair, so if you color your hair darker you might have to come in sooner, like 4-6 weeks. If you color your hair lighter you usually can stretch it to 6-8 weeks. We have a great 3-week program if you can't make it 4 weeks. The cost is $52.00 (this service does not include a blow dry) Be sure to ask your colorist if this is something you might be interested in.

Highlights or Lowlights

Foiled hair blends with the root more than a new growth color, therefore your natural re-growth is less noticeable. Most clients with foils will return in 6–8 weeks.

New Growth

Clients that receive a new growth color service will start to see a line between the colored hair and their natural re-growth between 4-6 weeks.

Ombré or Balayage

If you have a fresh balayage, you typically don't need it refreshed for 12 weeks. BUT! Be sure to pre-book a toner to make sure you keep it that beautiful tone you love! Toners last about 4-6 weeks depending on how often you shampoo.

Bleach Out

Timing is important for this service to prevent banding. If you go too long in between appointments you can end up with an orange band. 4-6 weeks is recommended.

When do you start to notice your roots? Mark your calendar when you got your hair done and use it for reference. We also recommend prebooking your next appointment. We send reminder texts for upcoming appointments. That way you aren’t stuck trying to get in last minute. We can’t wait to see you again for your next appointment! If you need to schedule a complimentary consultation, give our guest care team a call at 512-472-3331.
